பெருமழை நீடிக்காது

 

லாவோட்சு சீனத்து அறிஞர். கிட்டத்தட்ட 2500 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் வாழ்ந்தவர்.

அவர் எழுதிய நூல் தாவோ தே ஜிங் என்பது. ஞானச் சுடர் தெறிக்கும் அதில் என்று கற்றவர்கள் கொண்டாடுவார்கள். சீனத்துத் தாவோ மார்க்கம் என்று பாரதி கொண்டாடியது இதைத் தான்.

Poetry in translation

To speak infrequently

Is natural.

So a strong wind won’t last all morning,

A downpour won’t last all day.

What causes these? Heaven and earth.

If even heaven and earth must rest,

How much more so human beings?

Therefore align yourself to the Way.

Aligned with the Way you are one with the Way.

Aligned with virtue you are one with virtue.

Aligned with the heavens you are one with the heavens.

The Way accepts this alignment gladly.

Virtue accepts this alignment gladly.

The heavens accept this alignment gladly.

When there is lack of faith

There is a lack of respect.

விட்டு விட்டுப் பேசுவது இயல்பு தான்

பலத்த காற்று காலை வரை தாங்காது

பெருமழை காலை வரை நீடிக்காது

இதற்கு எல்லாம் காரணம்,

சொர்க்கமும் பூமியும்

சொர்க்கமும் பூமியும் ஓய்வெடுக்க வேண்டும் என்றால்

மனிதன் எத்தனை ஓய்வெடுக்க வேண்டும்?

எனவே மார்க்கத்தோடு ஒத்து இரு

அப்படி இருந்தால் மார்க்கமும் நீயும் ஒன்றென ஆகிவிடுவீர்கள் 

ஒழுக்கத்தோடு ஒத்து இரு

ஒழுக்கமும் நீயும் ஒன்றென ஆகிவிடுவீர்கள்

சொர்க்கத்தோடு ஒத்து இரு

சொர்க்கமும் நீயும் ஒன்றென ஆகிவிடுவீர்கள்

மார்க்கம் நீ ஒத்திருப்பதை மகிழ்வோடு ஏற்கிறது

ஒழுக்கம் நீ ஒத்திருப்பதை மகிழ்வோடு ஏற்கிறது

சொர்க்கம் நீ ஒத்திருப்பதை மகிழ்வோடு ஏற்கிறது

நம்பிக்கை குறைவு என்றால்

மதிப்பும் குறைவு தான்

We are supple and weak when born,

And hard and stiff when dead.

Trees and grass are supple and tender shoots,

But dry and withered when dead.

The hard and stiff are companions of death.

The supple and weak are companions of life.

The stiffly held weapon will not conquer.

Hard wood will fall to the axe.

The tall and stiff is of inferior rank.

The supple and weak is of superior rank.

பிறக்கும் போது நாம் மிருதுவாக எடையற்று 

இறக்கும் போது விறைப்பாக எடை கூடி

மரமோ புல்லோ முளைக்கும் போது மென்மை

மடியும் போது காய்ந்தும் வாடியும் 

கடினமும் விறைப்பும் சாவின் துணையாகும்

லேசானதும் மிருதுவானதும் உயிர்ப்பின் துணையாகும்

உறுதியாகப் பற்றிய ஆயுதம் வெற்றி தராது

கடினமான மரம் கோடாலிக்கு இரையாகும்

உயர்ந்ததும் விறைத்ததும் தாழ்ந்தது தரத்தில்

லேசானதும் மிருதுவானதும் உயர்ந்தது தரத்தில்

The five colours blind us.

The five notes deafen us.

The five tastes deaden us.

Pursuing and catching

Disturb the mind.

Wanting scarce things

Delays our progress.

So the wise are:

For the stomach

And not the eye.

Taking the one, they leave the other.

ஐந்து நிறங்கள் கண்ணைக் குருடாக்கும் 

ஐந்து சுரங்கள் காதைச் செவிடாக்கும் 

துரத்துவதும் பிடிப்பதும் மனதுக்குத் துன்பம்

அரிதான பொருட்களை விழைவது முன்னேற்றத்துக்குத் தடை

எனவே புத்திசாலிக்கு வயிறுதான்,

கண்ணல்ல முக்கியம்

ஒன்றை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு

மற்றொன்றை விட்டு விடுவர்
